Are there any good black hair salons in San Diego?
Hi, I just moved out to SD from Jersey and have had the hardest time finding a place to get my hair done out here!!! All i want is a cute simple sew in weave. It depends on what you want. There are products that are used with a flat iron and can truly flatten your hair. If not done properly, the heat will cause over straightening and damage. There are relaxers, they need to be applied in a very timely manner and require a lot of skill, as the hair needs to be stretched while the chemical is on the hair.
Neither of these products should be used on color treated hair without going to a professional stylist. Relaxers are strong chemicals and if improperly used, cause breakage.
Another thing. Relaxed or straightened hair requires maintenance. It has to be done continually to keep the look.
If you have curly or frizzy hair, they use the same solution on your hair that they use for perming it except they do not put rods in it. They put the solution on and then they comb it out through the hair ever so many minutes until it is straight and then they rinse it out.

In the Future what do you think Hair Salons might be like?
Perhaps the Hairstylists will be replaced with machines programmed to do Perms, Straightening, Trims, and hundreds of other stlyes? Maybe colors that are not very popular today will be then Like Pink, Purple or Reds might become the common color intead of Blonde. Why are hair salons so reluctant to use bleach to lift my hair to light blonde?
My natural hair color is a dark ash blonde (level 7). Everytime I go to the salon for a root touch up, they use regular color with a 30 developer. Everytime, my roots end up golden orange rather than platinum like the rest of my head. I tell them they need to use bleach first to lift my roots then apply the color/dye (double process) but they never are willing to do this because they are afraid of damaging my hair. Is my salon simply too conservative? I honestly can't get past the orange state without using bleach. Why are hair salons so reluctant to use bleach to lift my hair to light blonde?
The reason they won't do it is because bleach will dry out your hair and actually burn tiny holes in it. If you bleach your hair right at the roots, you'll find that within a few months, a lot of your hair is actually ';cracking'; and breaking off much shorter than you want it to be. For most blondes, regular color should be able to lift enough to give light blonde highlights - or about 2 levels. Bleach is terribly damaging, so most salons will avoid it if they can. So they are trying to give you the look you want, without the damage. Explain, very clearly, when you book your next appointment, that you are looking for dramatic platinum blonde highlights and your hairdresser should understand from that, that they will need to use bleach. If not, look around for someone who takes you at your word.
tell them thats what you want and if the dont do what you ask of them, refuse to pay. try going to a different salon where they are willing to do what you want. if not you could try doing it yourself?

You know the Emaar Greens community which is just before the Marinas? well if you go down the first bit of it, street one, and turn left you shall reach a small shopping place. In this, if walk in you will see a Choitram right in front, turn left and you shall find a hairdressers, which are v reasonable and good.
I cant remember the name from the top of my head - I think it is called Bianca - but this one is quite nice. There is also one in the springs but i am not sure how the hairdressers are there - I've tried this one and they quite good.

Sorry, the only one I know of is Toni %26amp; Guy. There's a location near the Hermes store and second location on...rue Tiquetonne, I think. Certainly the second one is near rue Turbigo and boulevard Sebastopol because I passed it several times when I stayed near there. I've also seen Toni %26amp; Guy salons in London, Barcelona, and the one I go to in Atlanta.

Also, read up on reviews of the salon and see who does the best hair- sometimes experieince doesn't always guarantee the best result. You can search http://www.yelp.com for salons in your areas that get rave reviews, and bad reviews.

I've gone to them with my hair being short and they were able to do it. The Round Brush doesn't hurt it's more so the heat from the dryer they are using. It was uncomfortable in certain spots but nothing that will kill you. Make sure you have them do a doobie wrap for you before you leave and keep it wrapped up for a few hours. The curl pattern is going to be really tight when they finish so your hair may look like a little mushroom but it will fall nicely. Also they are going to ask you if you want body or straight. Body will make it fuller and straight will be....well straight! so it's just a matter of preference. They don't really style so don't expect to come out with your hair bumpin like at a traditional salon.What do you think of Dominican Hair Salons?

Bit costly, but think how much people spend (and waste) on products to straighten it anyway. No fuss and no hassle! But also beware that feminine curls and waves are quite the trend this summer :) just tame the frizz a little and ur away!

Try a place like super cuts, mastercuts, etc. They do a good job with guys' hair, for a very reasonable price. You don't want to go to a full-fledged salon in which you could pay more than it's worth for a trim.

I go to Regis. They're a chain. I went to one in Denton, TX regularly and there are some near Houston, so there's probably one near you. It all depends on who you get, though. But I had a great stylist. A haircut/shampoo is something like $25-$35. I forget exactly because she gave me the price of a kids' cut and I also had a student discount. A color is something like $55. Again, not totally sure on the numbers. The store I went to offered student discounts on college IDs and my stylist regularly sent out coupons. It was great!
I also went to Toni %26amp; Guy once and was disappointed. You pay according to the stylist's experience. I got the lowest stylist and she did a good job but it was still around $45 or so!!! Just for a shampoo and a cut!!! So if you want the stylists who are higher ranked it's even more...
And from my experience, places like Master Cuts and Great Clips do have cheap cuts, but I've NEVER gotten a good cut there. They never listen and there's one near here with unlicensed stylists working there!!

I paid about 拢35 for a wash, cut and straighten. Just to trim your fringe will be about 拢20.
Colouring, will probably cost about 拢100 for 'highlights' (sorry i dont know the proper term) but if you are going some where hot, I advise you wait until after you have come back, because, chlorine, sun and sea can affect a colour.

I haven't gone to a hair salon for a long time. Do I pay the tip as soon as the person who cuts my hair is finished, or do i just add it into the cost of the haircut? Or is there some kind of jar to put it in? Any help is appreciated, thanks!When do I tip for hair salons?

Sure. Make a chart of products, and mark off what is sold, as it's purchased by each customer. Put the chart in a notebook or on a clipboard and have it near the register. You can also do a chart for money received for services, or just mark it down in a little planner book. You know, the kind of planner that has appointment listings pre-printed in there. Each week, add it all up, and you'll already know what you need to get from the beauty supply house, to replace the items purchased the previous week.
