What is the proper tipping amount at bars and hair salons?

I know that at restaurants, proper tipping gratuity is 20% if the service is decent. Does the same rule apply at bars and hair salons?What is the proper tipping amount at bars and hair salons?
Tipping is a choice. If you can be generous then thank the person who is providing you a service that you are especially appreciative of. If you wish to frequent that bar or salon you should probably be generous. But it is totally up to you how much you can afford to tip. It is complete bullsh*t that people expect to be tipped for services they are already paid to give.What is the proper tipping amount at bars and hair salons?
It kinda depends on the situation. 15% is a good rule, but you may want to go higher or lower depending on the situation. Example: If you buy 3 red bull and vodkas for a total 36 bucks that takes the bartender 30 seconds to make...is that really deserving of 5 bucks for a tip? Same goes for a haircut...On one end if you get a 7.99 special that takes 20 minutes you might want to throw a few more bucks their way...or maybe a few less on a $40 haircut that takes 10 minutes and the stylist smells like an ashtray. Just try to use good judgement and reward the service accordingly and never be an enabler of bad service by leaving a good tip because someone in that industry said you should regardless.
15% is actually the ';suggested'; tip amount for restaurants, and it applies to most other establishments as well.


However, that is a very broad generalization; how much you want to tip, or if you even don't want to tip, is entirely discretionary.
For bars, 15-20% if you're running a tab or one to two bucks if you're paying for each round individually.





I go to Cost Cutters for my haircut, and I usually tip a couple bucks. I couldn't tell you what the standard is for high-end salons.

if the waitress is topless then I guess it's about 10% but if the waitress got her cloths on then I suspect she's at one them fancy places you know and I'd guess you can give her 20% i'm really not sure about that.
20% is a safe but i think its still considered enough to do 15% but if youre generous im sure they would appreciate it
Usually a dollar a drink I think is enough, and 3 or 4 bucks tip for a haircut is fine.

at hair salons, it depends on what they do. i usually go for a cut and dye at the same time and tip 10 $
